Welding skills progress

Welding skills progress. I was fixing my motorcycle stand today. On the right last year attempt, no penetration, big online drugstore, blob of shit. Plus the metal bracket was to thin and it went all sideways. On the left today’s job. Looks like a row of pennies. I got the settings right at the first try, maybe I was just lucky.

new K&N air filter and new frame rear loop for the Honda

Believe it or not, last Saturday I lost the air filter on my FT500. It fell out somewhere on the rough dirt road, 40km from home, I never saw it again. Almost bought a new stock one, but I’ve found a bargain on a K&N. Say no more. I was waiting for a long time to throw this big air box out of the way. The only problem was that my carburetor had a 54mm diameter, and this filter was 57. But, quotecorner pharmacy, as someone told me before, one problem is no problem. I cut a rubber band out of a bicycle inner tube, put it on the carb and the filter fit right in.

The battery is at the same place it use to be. I utilized the lower part of the original basket, had to weld back a broken tab, and used a very stylish leather strap to hold it tight. It really ties the room together, don’t you think?

Small progress

New shocks arrived last week, but the bike is still under a feet of snow and it’s -7*C outside.

But I managed viagra online to get the seat off and took it apart:

I ordered new cover material, it’s due to arrive on Monday. I’m going to make new upholstery (don’t ask me how, I worry about that later;) I’ll be reshaping the foam as well since the seat is to low for my liking.

First the seat pan needs some adjustments. Since all plastic body panels didn’t last too long (I took them off once I saw them and newer put them back) the seat doesn’t quite match the frame. I mean it looks fine, but it’s not what I want. There are 2-4cm gaps on the sides and the rear end goes up and leaves a gaping hole above the fender.

First goal was to flatten the rear. I pulled out a hacksaw and heat gun, and went to work:
